Q: Heart Attack signs please help?
ok so my left arm has been hurting for to days now and the left side of my back also am i having a heart attack or am i just exagerating.

A: Probably just anxiety attack, see the doc just to be sure

Q: What should I do if I am experiencing early signs of a heart attack.. Left arm hurting. Chest pain?
My left arm has been hurting all day and now I am experiencing little pain in my chest. I just want to know of some home remedies to prevent the heart attack or is it Inevitible that it is going to happen

A: It is very unlikely that you would be having abrupt onset of some pain in your arm and now at your chest too, all day and this actually be unstable angina (pain coming from your heart due to heart disease).

If you are concerned, then go to the ED and have it checked out. They will take it seriously no matter how unlikely it sounds. You should note that they will take measures to rule in or rule out an acutely presenting heart condition – and will treat a heart condition if it exists. If you rule out, they may or may not treat your arm pain and they may not provide you with a diagnosis.

Many, many things can account for your symptoms other than a heart attack. Only a trained medical person who can take a full medical history, do a physical exam, and do diagnostic and lab work, would be able to tell what you need to know.

If you do nothing else, then take a single, full strength aspirin (NOT ibuprofen or tylenol) daily. There are no reliable home remedies for a heart attack.

Good luck.

Q: What are the early signs of a heart attack for young and old/ how can it be prevented?
Heart attacks have run on my dads side of the family a lot, and I am at high risk for one. I eat pretty healthy, but I don’t really know what to eat to help my heart.

Thank you

A: Eating foods that are low in fat and cholesterol will help a lot. Also, exercise can help out a lot. My dad died of heart problems and I was concerned about my health. My doctor told me that my heart is strong and all of the tests look really good. Have your doctor test you if you are really concerned. Let the doctor decide what course of treatment, if needed, to keep your heart healthy.

Q: Are these the signs of a heart attack or stroke? My mom doesn’t want to go to the hospital?
My mom was arguing a lot today, she admitted that she feels stressed and has a lot of things bottled up and wants to just get away. Now later she says she has a short of breath, the left side of her body hurts, (her neck, arm, etc) she says she feels like a head ache is coming on, and her heart is racing.

Is she DEFINITELY about to get a heart attack or stroke? What can we do? And should we definitely bring her to the hospital?

A: Get to the emergency room. Even if you dont’ think it’s anything, your better safe than sorry.

Q: Is his signs of a heart attack, fast please?
Im 14, 115lbs, 5′8, 10%body fat, relatively fit, witha normal pulse of about 70-85.

I just learned in health, today, that pain or numbness in your left arm is signs of a heart attack.
I get nervous VERY easily, so I think its my nerves getting to me (especially sicne I learned it today).

I work out every other day, and today I ran a mile and did some normal weight lifting. (shouldnt have doen nothing to make my arms soar or numb).
Now about 15 or so minutes ago my left arm got a minor discomfort and some numbness. At first I was scared to death, can I be having a heart attack? But after my nerves calmed a bit I checke my pulse, it was abotu 78-82rpm. All good there. My LEFT arm is still having discomfort (the discomfort is more located in my forearm). I told my mom (which is a Physical Therapist) and she dotn seem worried at all. Its been about 15minutes, im still having discomfort. (Not intense)
My heart rate is normal, I can feel the pulse in my left wrist (making sure blood flow isnt constricted, which I imagien is why your arm hurting being a heart attack sign).

Any info? Ive calmed down now, figuring if it was a heart attack I woudl ahve doen had it about 15-20mins in. But I still have minor discomfort, and keep in mind im relatively fit. Drink ALOT of water on top of that aswell.
Thanks, and please hurry just in case.
PS- it doesnt feel liek muscle soarness from work out.

A: If your pulse is normal, you’re not overly tired, not sweating profusely, no history of heart problems, and breathing normally, you will be just fine.

Someone at your age would go into cardiac arrest, not heart attack. If that was the case it would have happened to you while working out. You probably just pulled a muscle in your left arm and are being a mild hypochondriac with the recent information you have gained.

Q: If an ecg taken shows up signs of previous heart attack poss 1yr ago, how serious is this?
I was due to go into hospital for vein surgery. I went for a pre-op examination and my pulse was missing odd beats. I had an ecg to make sure all was o.k. The results showed that at some time I had possibly had a heart attack and the operation was cancelled, awaiting appointment with a cardiologist! I now worry more than ever that I may now be prone to a heart attack at any time. Am I worrying needlessly or is that it now?

A: You are probably worrying needlessly. Unless your appointment is a long time from now, the cardiologist may want to do an ECHO which is a specialized heart ultrasound to look for any damage or he may want to do a cardiac cath to see if you have any occluded vessels which might have caused this. In addition, there is usually blood work ordered to make sure your cholesterol/triglycerides are in normal ranges. Then, with the information from additional testing, the cardiologist will determine if any damage has actually occurred with your heart.

Q: My moms arm hurts? Is it signs of a heart attack or something?
Okay, so my mom is 37 and she has high blood pressure. Her upper arm hurts and I don’t know if it is something serious or not. I an wondering if its symptoms of a heart attack or a stroke. Please help!
This has been going on for a while. But the pain isn’t constant one day it hurts and the other it doesn’t. I am really confused…!

A: This could be something as simple as overuse of this muscle. Taking some motrin would be appropriate. If it goes away, it is probably muscular in origin. If more symptoms occur – chest pain, sweating, shortness of breath, nausea as time progresses, then she needs to seek medical care.

Q: signs of a stroke and heart attack?
what are the signs of heart attack and stroke thx

A: Based on what I learned in Boy Scouts, signs of a heart attack are nasea-stomach distress with an urge to vomit, pain or pressure in the chest, left arm, and neck. Three more signs of a heart attack is feeling weak, shortness of breath, and unusual sweating for ex. sweating in a cold room. I only know signs of heart attack, not stroke, sorry, hope this helps.

Q: I have a tight squeezing feeling in my heart is signs of a heart attack? ?
I have a tight squeezing feeling in my heart is signs of a heart attack?
Im 18 but i’ve only had this probebly twice before, but nothing too serious.
or could it be from stress or something?
I just found out that this guy i like likes me back though..

A: i having heart prob and im 16 and i had your that symptom for around few years u better c doc for a check up

Q: if lab work showed signs of heart attack and cath showed no blockage did I have a heart attack?
went to er with what seemed heartburn mild pain dr did lab work said came back in grey area for heart attack they did a heart cath no blockage so did I have a heart attack?

A: Spasm of an artery of your heart can cause this pain. The pain appears like a heart attack pain and if the spasm of the coronary artery is not relieved, it may end up fatally. The cause is not known, but when you do an angio, the coronary arteries appear normal, with no constrictions.

However, in certain cases the tests carried out may give a false positive result.

Q: heart attack signs please help?
ok so my left arm has been hurting for two days know today is the 3rd day my left arm hurts and my left side of my back hurts and the right side of my chest hurts i am 14 but i weigh 175 i have quite a bit of muscle but still some fat but the heart attack is my biggest fear in the world am i having 1

A: Okay kid, just relax for a second. The odds of you having a heart attack right now at this age is like 1 in a trillion. It is probably just gas. Did you know that gas pains can occur in any part of your body from the neck all the way to the waste (not including arms). You can feel a horrible pain in your chest for a couple days and it can just be gas. I’m sure you’re just a bit paranoid right now.

Q: Is the tingling in my left arm signs of a heart attack?
Hi, Im 16 and for the past few days i been getting a tingling pain in my left arm that starts at my shoulder and it goes all the way down to mt pinkie, and then it goes back but, only until my elbow. It usually happens when im laying on my back while watching tv.
Im worry because heart diseases run in the family and had few family members die of heart attacks.

A: It sounds like you’re lying on your arm in a position which blocks circulation. It is not impossible for you to have a heart attack, but at your age, it would either have to be from your doing drugs or a congenital birth defect. If you had a congenital birth defect, your doctor would have discovered it by now…so if you’re not doing drugs, you don’t have to worry about a heart attack at your age. But good that you asked. Try changing positions…and see if the tingling doesn’t go away. If you are doing any drugs, go to the ER when you have that feeling..and if you don’t have it anymore, go to your doctor and say what has been happening and what you’ve been doing. Good luck.

Q: Do you know how to find out what the signs of a heart attack are? Or heart problems?
It has been hurting in my chest since yesterday on and off! It feels tight and at times a really sharp pain and then I rest and it seems better! IDK! I have just been praying and asking others to pray! I am 36 years old! I would not think something could be wrong with my heart! I am under a bunch of stress right now!
I dont have any money to go to the doctor!

A: Signs and Symptoms of a Heart Attack

“Chest discomfort. Most heart attacks involve discomfort in the center of the chest that lasts for more than a few minutes, or goes away and comes back. The discomfort can feel like uncomfortable pressure, squeezing, fullness, or pain.

Discomfort in other areas of the upper body. This can include pain or discomfort in one or both arms, the back, neck, jaw, or stomach.

Shortness of breath. This often comes along with chest discomfort. But it also can occur before chest discomfort.

Other symptoms. These may include breaking out in a cold sweat or feeling nausea or light–headedness.”

I agree with the answer above me that it could be gas, based on the fact that it goes away and you don’t seem to have other symptoms. I have had that happen to me in the past and I swore I was having a heart attack and was on my way to the hospital when I belched and the pain went away. It could also be anxiety caused by the stress you are under. I have had that happen as well, usually during a panic attack.

If you develop more of the symptoms above, get to the hospital ASAP! Most hospitals HAVE to take care of you and will work out payment arrangements. There are also programs available that pay for all or a large part of the bill.

Q: Did My Dad Have A Heart Attack And A Stroke?
Daddy had the signs of an impending stroke for several days but refused to go to the doctor. He died instantly of a massive stroke. But he had one sign I’ve never seen listed for a stroke: pain in his back, shoulders, arms, and neck. These pains would come and go over several days. I’ve always seen this given as a sign of heart attack. Could he have had a series of mini heart attacks too? If it matters, he was Type 1 diabetic and 78 years old.

A: definitely a sign of heart attack. he may have had other signs but didn’t mention them to you
