Q: what are the symptoms of high blood pressure?
I’m pregnant and would like to know what to expect if my pressure is high. Also my husband just got check gor high blood pressure and his doctor said it was high, but he hasn’t been diagnosed yet! he would have to come back. If there anything you know about it!
A: Hypertension is called a silent killer because most of the times it does not produce any symptoms even when the BP is very high. Most people find out they have high BP when they go for check up with the doctor for some other problem. That is why you are advised to do an yearly check up after you are 30 years old.
As you are pregnant I am sure you are going for regular antenatal check ups with a doctor. They will check your BP during the check ups and if high they will advice you. Unfortunately there are no specific symptoms for high BP. Uncontrolled high BP sometimes produce some headache and dizziness but that is not a reliable sign for hypertension. The only reliable and correct way to find out is to do BP check up with a mercury BP apparatus. You can buy a BP monitor from the shop for self monitoring but that are not at all reliable and I won’t advice that. So when you go for the check up with the doctor make sure your BP is checked.
For your husband they will advice you to check his BP regularly once a week or once every two weeks. If his BP is high 3-4 times they will label him Hypertensive and advice regarding life style modification and medicines will be given.
Q: Any one know the symptoms of high blood pressure?
I have been dizzy and have seen stars yesterday I am wondering if my high blood pressure came back. I am also on 3 types of medication. Celexa, cephalaxon and menora…any one know of any side effects of mixing the drugs??
A: Can’t give you the symptom’s but I can give you a cause… my boss. (Actually – check out Mayoclinic.com – quote: Signs and symptoms
Most people with high blood pressure have no signs or symptoms, even if blood pressure readings reach dangerously high levels.
Although a few people with early-stage high blood pressure may have dull headaches, dizzy spells or a few more nosebleeds than normal, these signs and symptoms typically don’t occur until high blood pressure has reached an advanced — possibly life-threatening — stage.)
Q: Why do some people have symptoms with High blood pressure and others have none?
I am just curious because I am currently being monitored for HBP and I asked my doctor about symptoms because every where I look it is called the “silent killer”, yet some ppl say nosebleeds, floaters, dizziness, lightedness etc can be symptoms. What has anyone else experienced as symptoms of HBP.
A: I was diagnosed with HBP last year.
Silent-Killer, yes it can be!!
I have no nosebleeds.
I do have dizziness, lightheadness, & I feel very sick after taking my HBP medicane.
If you are on HBP medicane, make sure that you eat {no salt though}, because that will make your HBP go higher, and that’s not good!!!
Please see a Doctor ASAP!!!
Q: high blood pressure/symptoms?
hello
im 25 male
Suffer from blood pressure since 2002,doctor prescribed treatement and my blood pressure is now controlled.
My question is ,if someone doesnt treat high blood pressure,is possible that will suffer in the future from premature skin aging?
A: Functional changes in the lining of the arteries precede elevations in blood pressure (BP) by a good decade or longer and an elevated BP by itself does not cause any symptoms thus it is often referred to as a ’silent killer’. Neither hypertension nor its treatment has any effect on the skin and certainly does not cause aging of the skin premature or otherwise. Decades ago there was a concern that certain BP medications might affect the skin but this has been disproven.
Q: High blood pressure symptoms?
What are the usual signs before going to a G.P for testing?
A: Hi Maldwyn J,
It’s a very interesting question, because we would all like to have some indication of health problems before they strike us down or become chronic and debilitating complaints.
High Blood pressure is not called the silent killer for nothing – it is very difficult to detect, without pro-active monitoring as the symptoms may take many years or decades to manifest themselves.
So, often we only think of our blood pressure when we get some other symptoms as a RESULT of many months or years of having undiagnosed high blood pressure.
These symptoms may include :-
* Chest pain, also called angina
* Shortness of breath when exercising or during another vigorous activity.
* A fast heartbeat.
* Weakness, dizziness, and feeling sick to your stomach (nausea).
* Increased sweating.
You can buy excellent home blood pressure monitoring equipment before you go to the GP, and in many respects this enables you to monitor your blood pressure several times a day over many days, which your Doctor cannot do. This is far more useful than a single ’snapshot’ reading in the surgery, which may be skewed by the very visit itself and the stress associated with being in front of the Doctor.
I hope this answers your question, although maybe not in the way you expected.
Best wishes,
Malcolm.
Q: can you feel the symptoms of high blood pressure?
sometimes i feel a pressure or fullness in my ears/head. I didn’t know if it was blood pressure or sinus.
A: I really do think that the next time some student nurse or med- student or trolley-pusher or “para-medic” writes “THE SILENT KILLER” on Answers, I shall scream.,.. …………..
It’s so bl**dy twee , smug, patronizing and utterly devoid of meaning, …and yet, -it rolls off the tongue, doesn’t it…
Edit Donna , don’t worry,
-( Me, I’d had a tot or two, too, see?) (Hic ….)
Q: What are the symptoms of high blood pressure and what is the treatment?
i’ve just been told by the doc mine is border line and i need it checked in 2 weeks should i worry?
A: I have high blood pressure, but had no symptoms. I found out when I had a routine doctor visit. I now take a prescription water pill that holds my blood pressure down to normal. I suggest you go to your doctor and have it tested. Or you can go to most pharmacies and have it done for free. But I wouldn’t worry, but most definately have it checked again and follow your doctors advise.
Q: What is symptoms of high blood pressure?
I know it is known as the silent killer, but can there be some signs and if yes what?
A: One of the most dangerous aspects of hypertension is that you may not know that you have it. There are generally no symptoms of high blood pressure, so you usually don’t feel it. In fact, nearly one-third of people who have hypertension don’t know it. The only way to find out if you have high blood pressure is to get your blood pressure checked on a regular basis. This is especially important if you have a close relative who has high blood pressure.
If your blood pressure is extremely high, there may be certain symptoms to look out for, including:
* Severe headache & irritability.
* Fatigue or confusion.
* Vision problems.
* Chest pain.
* Difficulty breathing.
* Irregular heartbeat.
* Blood in the urine.
The above can be associated with moderate hypertension.
Q: what are the Symptoms of high blood pressure?
just wondering what causes high blood pressure and what to look for
A: high blood pressure is usually silent with no side effects. when it is severely high, you can have headaches, dizziness, nausea, or blurred vision. The only way you can be sure that you don’t have hbp or htn (high blood pressure or hypertension) is to have it checked regularly. HTN is defined as bp over 140/90.
Q: If Avastin stops Angiogenesis then why does it sometimes cause high blood pressure or CNS symptoms?
Avastin stops tumor growth by blocking Vascular Endothelial Grow Factor receptor so the tumor fails to get a blood supply. In that case how can the drug interfere with blood pressure or cause side effects in the CNS?
A: Most likely what is occurring is functional retro-fraction and anatomical retrofraction. Functional retrofraction is the reduced permeability of the capillaries, while anatomical retrofraction is a reduced density of capillaries throughout the body. Capillary are continually formed in our bodies, not just at tumor sites and rebuilding and restorative growth are often needed.
Avastin can block these normal processes, and thus there is the same amount of blood, but a smaller area to contain it in.
CNS symptoms are not well understood at this time.
Q: Can lack of exercise and high blood pressure produce symptoms similar to Attention Deficit Disorder or?
Attention Deficit Hyperactive Disorder
I forgot to add unhealthy diet (to lack of exersize and high blood pressure)
A: It is quite possible- high blood pressure in children has been shown to have a negative effect on their ability to think. See article link below.
Q: High Blood Pressure Symptoms?
I was caught in the rain yesterday then when I get back at my office my head started aching…..
But the headache I had felt so different from the usual headache I have. My backneck was all stiff and I felt like it was engorged with blood ready to explode anytime. I can’t even turn my head up/down or even side ways.
What could it be? It could be a sign of me starting to have high-blood? Thanks!
p.s.our family has a high blood problem history
P.S. I went to lay to bed and all seemed fine, but when I stood up, the head ache and backache came again last night.
Now, this morning, when I woke up, I thought I was okay, it came back again for a bit. But now I am okay.
A: If you’re not a doctor yourself…go see one!
Q: What are the symptoms of high blood pressure? Do I Have High Blood Pressure?
i think i have it because first off every-time it seems like i get mad,sad, or happy my body feels HOT (im only 13)!!!!!!!!!!! it starting to happen a lot to my body even when the tempure of a room is cold or im not even moving that much to be putting up a sweat my body still feels HOT when these emotions come!! can someone please explain to me why! DETAIL please n thanks!
A: Usually high blood pressure does not have any symptoms and that is why it is referred to as the “silent killer.” These symptoms are not consistent with high blood pressure. The most common symptoms of high blood pressure include headache, blurred vision and dizziness. Strong emotions can lead to the activation of the sympathetic nervous system (“fight or flight” system) which can lead to increased blood flow to the skin. This gives the sensation of feeling hot and flushing of the skin. This is a completely normal response and not a sign of a high blood pressure or any other condition. Thyroid disease can sometimes be associated with heat or cold intolerance, but this is unlikely in your case. High blood pressure is very easy to evaluate for by simply getting your blood pressure checked.
Q: High blood pressure – then low blood pressure symptoms?
Hi – I have a congenital heart defect and so I am on blood pressure medication to keep my high blood pressure under control. I am taking 10mg of Lisinopril (i am 23). THis is a new medication and I’ve noticed something that may be linked to my symptoms. (I am going to my cardiologist next week but I was just looking for other people with similar symptoms). Mainly of fatigue…. My doctor prescribed me 10mg once a day so I take it in the morning before I go to work. I have been checking my bp and when I wake up my bp is 155/80 in arms and 170/110 in legs (this is ON the medication) by the time I get home my arms are 115/70 and legs are 120/80…this is probably what i should have all day…I am wondering if I possibly need to take two dosages so there aren’t ups and down in my bp…could this be a reason for feeling very tired…I get home from work and just think about sleeping when 9-10pm comes around..does lower bp cause tiredness!?
Fred, your an idiot. A congenital heart defect is a defect that you are born with. It can’t be changed by anything, especially diet. If someone was born with one leg could you eat something to grow it back? Damn spammers!
A: Hi Sun,
Thank you for such an excellent question. You are doing all the right things to manage your blood pressure. As is common with all medications there is usually a period of adjustment.
We all feel tired and lethargic at times. However, you will feel more tired and lethargic when your BP is low. This does not mean that high BP is good. High BP can cause burst blood vessels etc.
Keep seeing your cardiologist etc. He/she will be able to give you the best advice.
Q: High/Low Blood Pressure Symptoms?
I’m just REALLY curious as to what the symptoms of high and low blood pressure are.
If any of you know, could you please list them.
A: a lot of those things don’t have symptoms, usually high blood pressure you find out when the doctor checks it. However, a result of high blood pressure would be heart disease. But blood pressure problems could also be noticed upon rising in the morning if you have a headache, or getting up from sitting or standing and your dizzy, also other circulatory conditions, like tingling in hands and feet however, this could also be neurological, etc..
