Q: Scared of going back to school?
I’m 15/f and have severe social phobia. It affects my whole life and limits what I do.

School is one thing that scares me so much. Public speaking is a big thing with my teachers and that is my worst phobia ever. I hate the fact that everyone in the whole class is silent and is focussing on you only.

I have tried so many techniques to calm myself down. But it’s all I can think about. My heart beats so fast, I sweat, I get a dry mouth and feel faint. I feel so angry at my teachers for making me do it. I just can’t do anything, can’t tell them how I feel because there is nothing I can do about it. Even after a presentation I still feel anxious and stupid, not relieved at all. The teachers say doing things like this will improve your confidence but it does not! And that makes me so angry.

I’m so scared that this sort of thing will hold me back from further education and getting a job. I’m scared of people. I know to some that sounds pathetic, and it does to me, but I am! I can’t hold conversations with people I don’t know that well. I hate social situations, like shopping and assemblies. I have panic attacks all the time, because I’m claustrophobic.

I have told my mum but she doesn’t get how bad it is. I have asked her about being home schooled but she doesn’t take me seriously. She just gets angry and calls me a baby when I won’t so simple things like ask a shop assistant something or answer the telephone or door. I’m scared of almost anything that involves people. I’m so frigged up, I’ve so much in my head. OCD, depression, claustophobia, social phobia, and I’m so young!

The only thing to help me is therapy but I can’t.

I’m just at a loss. I read all these articles and watch vids about people with the same thing as me but none of them seem as bad as me. They all have jobs and the say it as its nothing, but to me getting a job is so scary. The whole interviewing process, I can’t be put on the spot. Someone once asked me for my date of birth and I couldn’t answer, my mind just went blank!

I just don’t know what to do. The only thing that I actually like in my life is writing. I would love to sell my books and become a famous author because its my passion and it requires me to work from home which will suite me down to the ground. It’s just the fact that I might not make it. I might fail and end up with nothing in my life, and that really scares me. And all because of my stupid personility!

Sorry this dragged on a bit, and was sort of off topic, but it just helps to write it down and get it of my chest as there is no one I can talk to.

So, any advice at all?

A: I guess you would have to ask yourself “what am I really afraid of?” Are you afraid of what people may think of you? I used to always worry about what others thought of me until one day someone said to me…poeple are going to talk about you until the day you die so you have to deal with it…and now I can care less and if they thought or said anything bad about me I just shrug my shoulders and went on about my business because at the end of the day…they do not determine who I am or what I am going to be…what matters to me is what I think or how I feel. I want people to think negatively about me because that tells me that they ENVY something I have that they want. Girl you will be alright! Im not sure of your religion but just pray and ill pray for you. Go to school! get that education! and start writing that book! I like to read and would love to hear what you have to say one day…Just remember YOU determine who YOU are, not them….

Q: Why aren’t men allowed to cry in our society?
I’ve wondered this a lot, and I’ve been afraid to ask this question. I am a grown man, but I still have a heart. I don’t emotional or melodramatic, yet I do express sorrow. I was in the military during 9/11. Many of the people I served with were a bunch of insecure roughnecks. I couldn’t restrain my feelings during the 9/11 attacks. I didn’t weep rivers of tears, but it did make my eyes water. I had to leave to go to my dorm and let it all out. I’m sorry; I couldn’t help it. Are men considered less manly or weak of they commiserate anywhere outside of a funeral? Is mourning a sign of femininity and a subtle loss of masculinity? I remember the famous like “There’s no crying in baseball,” by Tom Hanks in A League of Their Own. What about football? I remember John Elway and Bret Favre getting emotional during their farewell speeches. Magic Johnson did the same thing. By my definitions these guys are considered alpha males. I don’t think most men would fight them in a dark alley. If Arnold Schwarzenegger or Vin Diesel’s children were dying of cancer, would they be allowed to weep? Or would everyone expect them to put on the same tough guy facades they exhibit in their films?

A: Social indoctrination. As the male of the species, we are supposed to be the guardians and warriors of society. This role comes natural due to our physical strength and aggression (compared to most women). Emotions were a liability in society for men because emotions were a way to undermine our ability to protect and fight.

More so, we are expected to be able to fight and even kill without any negative feelings attached to the act. This is why our hero’s as boys were Rambo, Indiana Jones, Luke Skywalker, James Bond and others who killed and were remorseless for having done so. A soldier kills best when he feels nothing for having done so.

In a way, we are primed to be soldiers before we even know it! Nerf guns, super soakers and Cowboys and Indians all teach us that it’s okay to act like you’re killing. How often did you really handcuff the robber when you were playing cops and robbers?

That’s why we can’t cry-not because it shows weakness, but because it shows humanity-which is the antithesis of war.

In our society, it was allowed and even expected that you should cry when 9/11 happened. This was to instill a sense of vengeance and sorrow which was capitalized on against young men who were fooled into going into these senseless wars.

There are several characters in the book To kill a mocking bird , The true main character is the young
narrators father, Atticus Finch, a man of great integrity and intelligence. He is a very heroic figure in more
ways then one. Atticus posses such traits as being principled, determined, and what’s more he’s a teacher to
others. In the movie A time to kill one of the main characters is Jake Brigance a eaiger lawyer, Who is also a
Hero to many people. Jake is not afraid to take a risk if he knows something is not right. Atticus and jake
live a moral life and show what it is like to live a moral life by living by the principals of right and wrong,
conforming to a standard of right behavior, being devoted to the task at hand by getting completely
mentally and emotionally involved. A good role model is someone who sets a good example to people
by being true to what he beleives such as ; being wise, spending time with your chilldren, teaching lessons
in life, taking risks , all by the way you live your life, not by controlling other peoples lives. Both Lawyers
show heroism by their actions and become respected role models for the greater society and their family.

Atticus Finch has shown that he is an understanding person and a role model to his children. He achieves
this through his individuality; Atticus has the courage to stand up for his rights an beliefs standing up for
beliefs is what Atticus believes is important even when others disagree. Atticus cares for his children by
teaching them not to let go of personal values. He guides his children through their journey of life by his
love and wise words and also by example: he is brutally honest, highly moral, a tireless crusader forgood
causes (even hopeless ones), a virtual pacifist and, for the most part, devoid of any of the racial or class
prejudices afflicting the other citizens of Maycomb. He goes to great pains to instruct his children on
the importance of being open-minded, judicious, generous neighbors and citizens.

“If your father’s anything, he’s civilized in his heart.” (108) Miss Maudie’s comment describes the
character of atticus. This tells us that Atticus is a man with a good heart. When Miss Maudie describes
Atticus’s heart as civilized she is suggesting that Atticus is an well-educated man with a sensitive,
refined nature.

Jake Brigance has proved to be a role model to his family by being a respect full, risk taking,
truthfull person. He will always be there for them and protect them in danger especially when
times got tough (sending his wife and little daughter to gulfport to stay with his in-laws). If
jake had kept them in their town they were at high risk of injury even as serious as death,
the kkk was after jake and his family cause the case he chose to defend was in favor of a
black family who’s Ten year old daughter was raped by four white men. Jake knew the risks
of taking on this case, he knew it was going to be a challenge that he would likely lose especially
in a white supremasist town. He was not sure if he should do the case but after he saw tanya
he knew what he had to do. Jake takes risks even though he does not know for sure what the
outcome willl be he knows if he wins this case he will be famous, rich, and known as a sucsess.
however if he loses he and his family will be very poor. Jake like Atticus teaches by doing.
Jake teaches his family about courage and bravery by being couragous, He shows moral courage
by taking on a seemingly indefensible man, and physical courage as he battles the unforseen forces
attacking him, his colleagues, and his home.

Atticus is a strongly respected man in maycomb county, his actions are what makes him so respected
for example when he said ” good eveining , mrs.Dubose! You look like a picture this evening.” ( 100 )
because he is such a respectfull man he said that to sound nice and make her feel a bit better
about herself. Atticus beleives that all men are made equal and should be treated equal, and wants everyone

to know that you should “Learn to be compassionate and understanding of the problems and conditions of
life faced by other people” And that can never be understood completely ” until you climb into his skin
and walk around in it” (30) By saying this atticus means that you have to be able to put yourself in someone

Q: Am I suffering from erotomania? Or, are these valid coincidences….read details below.?
Before I comit to seeing a psychiatrist I need an oppinion from the general public. I don’t want to take meds if I don’t need them but I also don’t want to imagine something this grandiose ever again.
Please analyze this carefully before giving me your true opinion. I am very delicate and horrified at the thought that I might be delusional.

I believe that a famous rock star is trying to connect with me. with me I’ve come to accept that this is a delusion but are these coicidences strong enough to excuse me from this “disorder”? These coincidences are infinite. Even my mom was convinced that this was real at first. But maby this disorder runs in the family.

Several years ago before he became famous I went to his concert. He stared at me intensly for minutes on end during the show and before the show. But I would never look back at him because I’m shy. It was a small venue of about 50 people. I sang along and was obviously completely taken by his music. When the show was over I left. Shortly after he wrote this song.

I immediatly thought this song is possibly about me and that concert. So I made myself known on his website and addressed the song. I explained that him starring at me wasn’t a joke (my friends were giggling when he was starring at me). And then I went on posting on his website. Coincidently everything that I said looked like an attack on him and his persona. Then he wrote another song that I thought was about me too because it was about the same things that I was saying on his website. It is my poem in picture form! The apple tree. An apple falling from the tree. And what appears to be a semi-erased swing. Do you see it? He’s not the greatest painter so it took me awhile to figure out the back of the box. Until I listened to one of his songs again from the same album that said “It’s a black balloon. It’s a dream I’ll soon deny.” If you use your imagination then you can see someone laying on a bed with black balloons floating around the box.

Q: Whats this Horror film Title?
It starts with a girl being attacked and a guy goes to her rescue. The attacker warns him not to help her but he does anyway. It turns out this girl is being hunted by a cult trying to sacrifice her so our hero spends the film protecting her. He falls in love with her big time. She ends up getting caught by the wierd cult people hunting her and he is let to a beach where she is being held. He is tricked into taking her place so she can be free. She ends up being one of them and turns, when he is tied up, and cuts his heart out!!!! The film ends with another sorry sole finding the same girl being attcked, he is warned not to help her….
This film was one of the only films to scare me, it must have been made in the 70-80’s. No real famous stars in afraid. Please help!

A: I remember this movie but it is definitely NOT The Wicker Man. I just saw The Wicker Man on TV tonight, which is actually what got me thinking about the movie being asked about and trying to find it. I am searching for the title of this film too. Although The Wicker Man is a great film in this genre as well. The Wicker Man was set in Scotland and starred Edward Woodward and Christopher Lee. Woodward played a policeman investigating a disappearance that leads to discovery of paganism, sacrifice, etc. He is in a wicker basket on the beach at the end.

The film being asked about, and which I am looking for as well, appeared to be set in America–at least, it definitely was not Scotland. The main character was not a policeman. He was a businessman, I think. At some point he does turn to a policeman for help, but it turns out the policeman (and his partner) are actually members of the cult! When the man is killed at the end of this movie, he is staked to the ground, not in a wicker basket.

I have reviewed the cast and plot of The Darklands, and I’m fairly sure The Darklands is not the film we’re looking for, either.

Any further help identifying this film would be greatly appreciated! There were one or two semi-famous actors in the film, but I can’t remember them right now.

I’m doing paper for the History of Math class and I’m stuck on one section.

I can’t figure how during the 18th century Mathematics played a role in society.

Here’s what I have so far:

The critical factor of the scientists of the scientific revolution was their success. And the acceptance of their new science by the educated elite leading to the formation of a new society and culture. By the early 18th century monarchs, nobles and statesman were giving their money to scientific academies and projects .

The achievements of Kepler, Boyle, Harvey and Newton by the early 18th century were quickly institutionalized in all major academies and universities. Society was soaking up all the new science and mathematics like a sponge.

The scientific men and women became what we today would consider celebrities. They were fashionable icons. People started saving their scare and hard-earned money to by globes for their homes and microscopes- for the reason that owning these objects caused families statues to rise.

By the 18th century knowledge of what was now being called Newtonian science and the diffusion of learning had become the goal of the educated classes. Conversely censorship and the church hindered their goal. The leaders of the new science became the leaders of the Enlightenment and they sought to now not only spread the knowledge but to impose freedoms on the social and political institutions.

They attacked (in writing) on anything that stood in the way of tolerance, freedom and the new science. Because of this they earned the name Philosophes (meaning philosophers.) some famous philosophers of the time were Voltaire in France and Benjamin Franklin and Thomas Jefferson in the colonies and Immanuel Kant in Germany .

The heart and feelings of society was the insistence that each individual should think independently without the teachings of the authority of universities and the clergyman of the churches. The society was fed up with all the practices of medieval culture and the reprehensive politics of the time (more specifically the privileges of the aristocrats and the practices of the monarch.) The Philosophes and their support by the educated elite lead to the formation of a public and worldly culture.

In their cat and mouse game with censorship and harsh authority salons were established. They were a zone for social life outside the family and were not attached or associated the churches or the courts of the monarchs. They were gatherings conducted in private homes and the groups helped to create a new worldly and public culture. The salons were free mental spaces, and it helped learning to flourish. In the salons lectures were given with the scientific demonstrations and they learned all about Newton mechanics and mathematics.

This new society dared the think for themselves.

When looking it over my professor told me I didn’t relate that paragraph enough to math. So my question is how ( using what I already have!) Can to relate all that to math?

They were all indeed brilliant men, but none of them was a mathematician, and only Benjamin Franklin could be said to have been a scientist. So how this fits in with your thesis of science and math conquering all is beyond my ability to see.

Michael Jackson and Prince are another rivalry. I personally think Michael Joseph Jackson and Prince are uncomparable. Like comparing a $40 dollar steak to a chicken nugget from the 99 cent menu.

Michael Jackson has won 197 major awards for his music and his. not including all his humanitarian awards. Prince has won 33 major awards.
Michael Jackson has never publically bashed on Prince. He told and interveiwer after hearing about Prince’s comments about himself,” i have… i feel no need to attack a fellow artist because real artists don’t have to do that.”

Michael Jackson’s music will be remembered forever. I think Prince is okay. But Michael is untouchable. He was givin’ the 1st plaque in the MTV. POP HALL OF FAME. Prince, to my knowlege has not been givin any plaque.

Michael Jackson was just that dude. People are always gonna gun for the person on top. Much respect to Prince, but I’ve always pefered MJ’s music, and only a handful of songs from Prince, but that’s a matter of preference. Michael Jackson was the total package: singer, songwriter, musician, dancer, performer, entertainer.
Michael will continue to moonwalk thru our hearts.

I am afraid that I am suffering from the delusional disorder called “erotomania”. But before I comit to seeing a psychiatrist I need an oppinion from the general public. I don’t want to take meds if I don’t need them but I also don’t want to imagine something this grandiose ever again.

This is an interestingly detailed yet long story. But I need your help! Do me a big favor. ? Please analyze this carefully before giving me your true opinion. I am very delicate and horrified at the thought that I might be delusional. Thanks for your time.

I believed for awhile that a famous rock star is secretly in love with me but we have never met. I’ve come to accept that this is a delusion but are these coicidences strong enough to excuse me from this “disorder” and medication? These coincidences are infinite. Even my mom was convinced that this was real at first. But maby this disorder runs in the family.

Several years ago before he became famous I went to his concert. Before and during the show he was staring at me for a long period of time but I would never look back at him because I’m shy. It was a small venue of about 50 people. I sang along and was obviously completely taken by his music. When the show was over I left. Shortly after he wrote this song.

Black Comedy
Well, once I gave a look to you but you never gave it back
So here I stand expressionless but my memories intact
I guess the past is good for a laugh
A comedy so dry and black it makes my stomach hurt so bad
Well, two thumbs up we give this one
Despite it’s predictable ending
The dialogue seemed rushed and wrong
But the actors did their best
To lay some worth on every word like coffins dropped into the earth
The saddest sound we ever heard
We sang along
We sang it, “Take this weight away”

I immediatly thought this song was about me and that concert. So I made myself known on his website and addressed the song. I explained that him starring at me wasn’t a joke (my friends were giggling when he was starring at me) and that I left the concert without meeting him because of friends pushing me out the door. And then I went on posting on his website. coincidently everything that I said looked like an attack on him and his persona as he was struggling to learn how to handle his new stardom. Then he wrote another song that I thought was about me too because it was about the same things that I was saying on his website. When he introduced the song he said, “This song is about the kind of love that is just an illusion, which is the best kind of love. It’s the kind of love that will never dissapoint you and never break your heart because it was never real to begin with”

It is my poem in picture form! The apple tree. An apple falling from the tree. And what appears to be a semi-erased swing. Do you see it? He’s not the greatest painter so it took me awhile to figure out the back of the box. Until I listened to one of his songs again from the same album that said “It’s a black balloon. It’s a dream I’ll soon deny.” If you use your imagination then you can see someone laying on a bed with black balloons floating around the box.

I didn’t know what this phrase meant until 2 weeks later when I went to his concert. I was certain I’d meet him this time. And I did. I was sitting in the balcony (which I had stated on his website that it’s where I prefer to sit). Low and behold I turn around and he is standing behind me. So I walked up to him and introduced myself. But he didn’t recognize my name. There intwines the meaning on

A: I think you’re a visual and imaginative person, who has provided (unknowingly) another imaginative person with some serious inspiration :P He’s used your ideas. It’s as simple as that.

When you post material on the net, which is a public domain, you run the risk that someone will pick it up either in whole or use parts to form thier own work from.

I think you’re thinking too deeply into this encounter. If he remembered you or was interested, I suspect he would have contacted you by now, and would definitely have recognised you!

A: 6 months of not thinking of or about this person, delete and throw anything in connection with this person and visit a counsellor. If you still feel the same way after 6 months of non rumination, then ask your counsellor if they think you need someone who can prescribe you something.

If it was real, you would not need to ask…..maybe wishful thinking and too much rumination
