Smoking should be banned in England completely!
Our Country can be an unpleasant and dirty place to live. No matter where you go, you always come across someone smoking and this is a dangerous, dirty and expensive habit, which has no positive effects. I will discuss why I strongly Think smoking should be banned in England, and these are my reasons for wanting this: Firstly smokers are ruining their own health, secondly it’s bad for non-smokers health and thirdly, it is an expensive habit. These are my reasons for believing we should take action now!
The first problem with smoking is that it’s damaging smokers health and taking away their lives. Smoking has so many negative effects including lung and heart disease, circulation and respiratory problems and asthma. Each year England has 364,000 patients admitted to NHS hospitals due to smoking related illnesses. One of the main health problems with smoking is cancer and Cancer Research claims that 114,000 people are dying each year due to smoking related diseases. Pregnant woman who smoke are also running a big risk of damaging their babies’ health; the poisonous chemicals go into the baby’s blood and this can result in a miscarriage, low birth weight or the baby being premature.
I get the impression that people who start smoking aren’t’t well educated or just don’t care about their own health, which is a course for concern. However I know a person who has an asthmatic daughter and is well educated, but despite having a daughter who is more prone to health problems, she still chooses to smoke around her, which I think is appalling.
Secondly non-smokers are having to inhale other people’s smoker just isn’t right. Scientisits have proven that passive smoking is extremely dangerous to non- smokers as the smoker only inhales 15% of the smoke and all the rest gets inhaled by the people around them. Passive smoking can cause serious health problems especially for those with allergies, heart of lung disease and for children and babies. An example of how dangerous passive smoking is, is Roy castle, a non – smoker and entertainer who worked in bars and clubs for years and inhaled smoker through his work and was diagnosed with lung cancer and died as a result from it. Just the other day I was on my way to college and outside my local train station, there was a bunch of smokers there. I had no choice but to inhale the dirty smoke.
Ruining your own health is one thing but damaging non – smokers health is just unacceptable.
And the final problem with smoking is that it’s expensive. The national health service is already in a terrible financial situation and they are having t give away thousands, not even knowing it will have any effect. The NHS spends on average £1m each day, £7m each week and between £1.4bn to £1.7bn each year on stop smoking services. And smokers on average are spending at least £1500 on cigarettes every year. Some smokers that have a low income sacrifice their daily essentials such as food to buy cigarettes and that is very sad to know that some people have to go to those extremes to carry on smoking.
I have come to the conclusion that smoking doesn’t have any positive effects and is just making health matters worse. If we don’t do anything about this now, more and more people will die from smoking and smoking will carry on forever which would be very disappointing. When smoking advertising began in 1911, smoking was looked at in a good way. Famous people were shown in films smoking which made smoking very popular. That was a total disaster and even today smoking can be looked at in a good way. Most young people get into smoking as a result of peer pressure and even if the young people know about the bad effects or smoking, they think they are invincible and that is a huge problem which needs to be tackled. Lots of people who smoke find it incredibly hard to quit because smoking is so addictive, however, with enough willpower it is possible to quit smoking. In July 2007 I was very pleased to find out about the smoking ban as more people quit smoking and enclosed public places became more pleasant to be in. However it still wasn’t enough to make everyone quit which is why we should ban it in England completely. Before banning it completely though, we should an smoking in public completely as then smokers would have no choice but to smoker in their own homes and this is bound to make a huge rise in smokers choosing to quit.. Its not right at all that children have to be around people smoking at home because as well as it damaging their health, having smokers around them all
the time is bound to encourage them to smoke and is an on going problem. I think all Schools throughout England should have stop smoking services available as this would increase the number of young people choosing to quit dramatically. I also know that if stop smoking adverts were more emotional with children in, smokers would take quitting smoking much more seriously. The adverts should have ill children in as this is very emotional and smokers are bound to relies that they are responsible for any health risks in their family.
So I urge people to come forward and start an anti-smoking campaign – Together we can ban smoking in England!
A: you have alot of grammer corrections to do
the conclusion should be short and to the point.
in the conclusion, just state your thesis.
the rest, put them wehre you think they belong.
Q: what do u think of this essy so far?
THE DANGERS OF SMOKING
Juliana Okereke
Sec:7,8
All smokers must quit now!!! Scientists have discovered that smoking kills more people then Aids, alcohol, car accidents, suicide, and illegal drugs put together.Statistics shows that 22.3% of U.S citizens smoke. Smoking causes many different health risks, coast a lot of money, and is linked to environmental tobacco smoke, which is known has second hand smoking.
Studies have shown that smoking is dangerous to a smoker’s health and that 4,000 chemicals found in cigarettes can cause cancer. In addition, smoking causes 30% of all cancer deaths. In 1982 Surgeon General stated That “Cigarette smoking is a major cause of cancer in the United states”. This is as true today as it was in 1982. Cancer is only half of the health problems caused by smoking. Smoking also causes heart disease, bronchitis, emphysema, and strokes.Addentionly, smoking can cause Osteoporosis, which is a disease that causes older people to become bent over and break there bones easily. Smoking is also said to shorten your life by 14 years.
Not only can smoking harm you, it can also cost you a lot of money. It is estimated that smoking just a pack a day, can cost you $1,800 a year wait there is more, smoking over the course of a life time can cost you $58,400.000 dollars! For example, smoker Barney has to pay $12 per day for one and a half pack of cigarettes that’s $4,380 per year. This is money you could spend on something useful such as helping the poor, buying a new car, or save for some thing special you may want to buy, later in your life.
Furthermore, not only can smoking harm the smoker, it can also harm the people around him or she too. This is known as second hand smoking or environmental tobacco smoke. Statistics says that 3,000 people die of second hand smoking each year. There are 2 types of second hand smoking: mainstream smoke and side stream smoke.Mianstream smoke is when half of the smoke is inhaled or exhaled. Sidesream smoke is when smoke floats in the air. Second hand smoking can cause a lot of health issues such as lung cancer, nasal sinus, cavity cancer, cervical cancer, breast cancer, and bladder cancer. In addition too, second-hand smoking has a greater risk on children it can worsen their asthma conditions and can cause sudden infant death or (SID).
In conclusion, based on my research on the dangers of smoking, I think all smokers should quit because of its heath risks, heavy expenses on ones income, as well as hazards to the environment. In fact, in 1982 Surgeon General said that former smokers live longer than continuing smokers. For example, people who smoked and quit before the age of 50 have half the risk of dying in the next 15 years compared with continuing smokers. But even though 70% of smokers want to quit and 35% attempt to quit, sadly only 5% succeed in quitting. A famous quote, I think has to do with smoking is “Cigarettes are killers that travel in packs”; This quote tells about the danger of smoking. I think that if anyone ever chooses to smoke he or she is making a very bad decision.
A: I thinks its pretty good once you work out a few of the misspelled words
Q: I am sure Jesus was amazing in his time, but can’t we do better?
I’d like to propose we are already far more able than the son of God in many ways, and we will soon be in many others. His only trick we still have no clue how to match is resurrection, but he only used this one four times including his own.
One of his more famous miracles was feeding five thousand people using only five loafs of bread and two fish. We can do much better! From but a small culture of cells, we can derive as much meat as we desire. Sure it does not taste very good, (it is called shmeat) but we do not even need to kill a single organism to feed countless individuals.
Jesus could walk on water. How practical! We do not even like to walk to the grocery store. Is this really such a miracle compared to crossing entire oceans? Exploring the greatest depths on the planet? Flying? Space travel? I think it is safe to say we have dwarfed this miracle.
Healing the sick? I’ll confess we have yet to catch up with Jesus’s ability to cure seemingly any disease, but we are coming close! The greatest diseases of that time are almost completely eradicated, and the deadliest diseases we have now such as cancer and heart disease are more a result of our increased longevity. We can now even restore limited sight to the blind through a camera that literally plugs directly into the brain! As we are more accurately able to map brain activity, it is very possible the blind will see in hi-def! We are making similar advances in curing the deaf, and bypassing damaged parts of the spine to cure paralysis.
And our most important miracle? A desire to spread these abilities and make them common to as many as possible as quickly as possible. Jesus knew the value in teaching a man to fish over providing him a fish. Why not teach us to cure the sick rather than do it himself? Now, our knowledge is advancing so quickly that it is almost impossible to keep track of. We can now register brain activity at the level of individual neurons and in 2012, NASA will complete a supercomputer many people believe will be powerful to simulate the human brain. It is not inconceivable that even resurrection will one day be within our power. Shame it is too late to ever get Jesus’s mind on file.
A: Quite so – amazing stuff.
And when do so suppose we will get rid of evil?
Q: I care too much about what people think of my country Iran, is that normal? Should I not care?
I’ve written this article and have done a lot of research to complete it, so is that normal if I want more people to read it?
I believe that if you spend 10 minutes reading this essay, you will be better informed than if you listen to a lifetime’s worth of Major Media news. This article has two parts:
1. Cultural and general info
2. Political info.
Note: I’ve explained everything.Any answers before reading the whole thing will prove to be wrong.Specially the political part.I’ve provided evidence for whatever I say. It’s just the way it is.

Part 1: Cultural and general info
Hi. I’m a 19 year old Iranian who has spent his life in Iran.I study English. When I chat with people from other countries, I am shocked to see how totally wrong their ideas are about Iran. I wrote this article in an attempt to help correct those ideas.Fisrt some interesting things:
A few months ago Iran uncovered the most effective anti-H.I.V medicine. I searched for news of that on the internet, but there was no single sign of it.Now, I found it among the English news: “The medicine is produced from herbs using nano technology” The link to read about it is:
http://www.payvand.com/news/07/feb/1032.html
The Media are unjust. They never talk about facts!
Some interesting facts:
Iran is a pioneer in medicine and genetics, and Iranian surgeons have found lots of new methods for treating spinal defects, and many diseases (mainly the treatment for different types of cancer) and the best brain and heart surgeons are Iranian. The pioneer in heart transplants and artificiall hearts, “artificial vessels” using nano-technology (Reported a few days ago) and so on and so! (I’ve put two websites below) The head of the Mars Mission in NASA is Iranian. One of the best designers of sports cars working in Germany is Iranian. Some of the best 3D animators are Iranian. Iran is one of the best countries in counter-engineering. Holds the second place in building dams and in loads of other things! It’s one of the top countries in bio-technology and nano-technology. The 4th highest tower in the world (Milad tower) is in Tehran (visit it at this link from wikipedia: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Image:Milad.jpg )
51 of the top 100 universities in the Mid-East are in Iran, and they’re among the top universities of the world as well. The champion weight-lifter, a woman the nobel peace prize are Iranian. The 6th top movie director in the world is Iranian.(Abbas Kiarostami) http://arts.guardian.co.uk/fridayreview/story/0,12102,1084266,00.html
These are just small samples. If the media told you about Iran’s achievemens everyday and didn’t hide them, your news would be full of Iranian news!Iranian girls are famous for being terrific. We have Persian rugs and Persian literature, many Persian poets, artists and scientists that are world famous. Iranian culture is now westernized and only a little of the ancient culture has survived. According to statistics Tehran is the cheapest capital city in the world (one Dollar =about 950 Tomans) There are many other things. How many pages would you need to describe a country? Iran has nearly all the industries and technologies found in ‘developed’ countries. Oh, and we have four seasons! We get a lot of snow and there are skating rinks! lol The list is endless.
I’m gonna introduce Iran’s international news website to you (Press TV) which was established recently. It’s fully in English. In the “Sic / Tech” section you’ll always see Iran’s discoveries. The address is:
http://www.presstv.ir/news.aspx
Press TV news: Iranian scientists have registered more than 4800 inventions during the last Iranian calendar year of 1385 (April 21 2006-April 20, 2007). 4800 inventions in just one year!

Some people think music is forbidden in Iran. “Music of Iran and Iranian musicians have received countless awards in the course of history. Every year from 1977 to 2007.Evidence? http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Music_of_Iran
I send Iranian music to my American and Canadian chat friends and they all say they’re some of the best songs they’ve ever heard.
Here’s a sample of the latest hits from two official Iranian music websites. You can just right click on the links below and choose “Save Target As” to download them. Iranian music is just modern pop which is based on electronic stuff.Experience how awsome music can be produced by electronic Trance drums instead of DJ music!

And so on and on!
The first thing the West accuses our government of is that we don’t allow personal freedoms. Actually, Iranians disobey laws they don’t like as much as anyone. There are only a few restrictions. It’s cool over here. People here do whatever they wish to! Many strict rules in other countries don’t even exist in Iran. Also, you should understand that what may seem so normal to you, may be a nightmare for us and vise versa. Some of Iran’s laws are based on OUR culture. You look at our country from “your own point of view”! In Iran most houses have a sattelite dish. Sattelite television has a serious influence on our people, and Iranians wear very fashionable clothing. Maybe it is a kind of imitation, but we still have our own unique Iranian style. A visitor might wonder if this is a country or a fantasy pageant of beauty queens! Make-up and fashionable clothing are everywhere.I ignore a few fuddy-duddies though!
In my view, everything is great, if you ignore unemployment, drugs, inflation and air pollution. Also, you can’t compare Iran today with the Iran you remember. The Shah and the Iatollah Khomini are both some 30 years in the past! 70% of Iran’s population is a new generation (Under age 30) without the biases of the past and we’ve transformed everything.
Ever heard Iranian girls are terrific?I’ve collected some photos showing Iranian girls! Look! Poeple are like this!

Some people think women don’t have any rights in Iran. But in my view, women are overrunning the place. They’re very respectful, and they’ve been the winners in so many cases: Most of them get into the best universities because they’re very smart. And they get the best jobs because of their high university degrees. They’ve got Islamic rights, and that has in some cases made it difficult for men to marry them, because husbands are supposed to buy them expensive things and treat them very well, otherwise women have the right to ask a great amount of money (called Mehr) according to the law, which most husbands cannot afford, so men will be imprisoned. The only thing that women are not allowed to do in Iran is getting into public football stadiums and that’s because such places are full of cheeky guys. They do anything from taking part in rallies to singing pop songs.Anything! I’ve put a sample here.
Another funny thing: Your footage about stoning the women who have committed adultery. Have you ever asked yourselves how many years ago that footage related to? But in one case the thing that had happened was incest not adultery. Most of those footages relate to the early days just after Iran’s revolution! Otherwise you’d get new footages at least once a month! What exactly makes you think women are treated differently? The way they are treated in Saudi Arabia? Try to think of the racism in your country too.I found a BOOK of the U.S problems and it got me dizzy! Iran has its own problems too. Each country has its own problems. I know the freedom of speech in political field is so limited here, but does that really affect ordinary people? Those who are not involved in politics? You give me some dark examples which I already know of, but that doesn’t mean Iran is not a good country.I can give you a long list of the violation of human rights in all countries not just here.
http://web.amnesty.org/report2006/usa-summary-eng
It’s like MERELY talking about Guantanamo and C.I.A’s secret prisons and some unjustified death penalties in the U.S, but does all that mean Americans don’t have good lives? Certainly not. America is a great place. Please don’t look at everything from one dimention. There’s so much to see.
Iran, Iraq and Afghanistan are ——— SEPERATE COUNTRIES! ——— Even within Iran, 60% of us are Persian and 30% are Turkish! Iran is a normal country like any other in the world. The Media are very good at creating really scary stuff: “IRAN BEHIND THE CLOSED DOORS!!!” “IRAN UNDERCOVER!!!” Some of that garbage would be enough to scare ME away! But in truth, Iranians are far more open-minded than you have been led to believe.
There are lots of Iranians today who are geniuses and scientists, and are all under age 25. For instance a 17 year old boy has invented 72 amazing inventions. Every year a special scientific compeition is held here and students assemble to show off hundreds of inventions. Iranian students and sportsmen win gold and silver medals in different competitions in the world all the time, in robotics, biology, maths, physics, sports, anything! Why don’t the Media talk about them? Please don’t summarize our nation and culture with the single word “nuclear”. Although we’re proud of this achievement because we believe that having nuclear energy means that a country is developed.
It’s now 2007 and most people still think we are uneducated people living in deserts and riding camels!
Part 2: Political info.
Let’s clarify some political issues as well: Some of the Americans think that president Ahmadinejad hates the U.S and Israel and wants to nuke them!! The Media are good at putting lying comments out there. I really don’t get the point why our politicians defame themselves by talking about things that have got nothing to do with us. The thing is that they occasionally make some statements that the media would make them controversial topics to interest its viewers! For example they pick up some specific phrases of a long speech (without refering to the main points and reasons for that speech) and put so many bad comments on that.
First of all, Iranians don’t hate anyone. We hate neither Jews nor Americans. How would our guys dream of America, want to be like them as much as possible, and hate them at the same time?! The truth us that Iranians are the only people in the Mid-East that are pro-American! Being agaisnt the U.S policies is a different story! We live basically the same lives.Don’t look at the way women dress in public places! You’ve got to see them in other places!I’ve got to say that for Iran, Israel is not equal with Jews! Israel is a gov’t. Jews are faithful people! 20,000 Jews and lots of Christians live here equally with Iranians and two of Iran’s parliment members are Jews. Who says we want to force others to convert to Islam? Have you ever found a Moslem knocking at your door asking you to do so?
Christians and Jews are both God-believers and respectful to us.
I wonder who Iran is really a threat to. Is it logical to say someone’s guilty because we THINK / PREDICT that he’s going to do something wrong? And they repeat the same “nuclear weapons” tosh over and over and brainwash people! Correction! It’s “nuclear energy”. Besides, how many “nuclear weapons” do they have themselves? Hundreds of thousands? Has Iran ever attacked any countries? No. Has it developed any nukes? No! That’s what nuclear agency says. Only Iran’s opponents are pulling Iran’s leg and what they say is just based on political conflicts. What we’re doing is legal. Iran is a peaceful country. Why? It’s the regional super-power and if she wanted, she could easily invade the countries in our neibourhood just like what Saddam did to our country, but as you see Iran has peaceful relations with all of them.
Some people say he said: Israel should be wiped off the map! the thing is that he exactly said: “The Imam “Khomeyni” said this regime occupying Jerusalem must vanish from the page of time.”They’ve only told you this phrase not the whole thing and it’s mistranslated intentionally. Besides, they’ve been saying such things for a long time. It’s their habit. Here’s an article.”Wiped off the map….The roumor of the century.Read how the media and the U.S newspapers have twisted it into a controvertioal topic.
http://www.antiwar.com/orig/norouzi.php?articleid=11025
Now you see that you were wrong.Iran has always defended itself, but it’s not an offensive country.
Some say he’s said: “The Holocaust is a myth!” Again, this is a single phrase taken from a long speech and there are totally logical reasons for saying so. If 6,000,000 Jews were killed, that’s terrible, but 300,000 Shiite Moslems killed by Saddam aren’t important at all? Over 650,000 Iraqi people are killed and that’s not important?! When Fox News simply says that America and Israel are capable of destroying and killing Iran’s population of 69,000,000 within two weeks, it’s OK and no one says they’re threatening other countries to nuke them (I saw this with my own eyes on the Fox News website) Millions of people killed in Afghanistan, Hiroshima & Nagasaki and the Vietnam war are not considered human beings at all! Now I think you’d get the point why he’s IRONICALLY said it’s a myth. Moreover, don’t you believe in freedom of speech/mind? Agreeing with the Holocaust is not gonna bring anyone to life!If you really like to blame someone for that, hope in a time-machine and sue Hitler! lol
Some countries are using Iran as a scapegoat to put the blame (for their own faults) on.
This part is just for Americans:
Those of you who say why Iran says “Death to America”:
1. ‘America’ to us means the U.S govt, not the people. How do you expect Iranians to mean “American people” when our media admires Americans for marching and holding up “no war” placards?! Also, I see a lot of “Let’s nuke Iran”s on YA.Isn’t that a kind of “Death to Iran”?
2. The new generation don’t say such things and if some of them occasionally march in the streets that’s because some of the stupid guys enjoy making noise and they mainly go out there to meet their girlfriends/boyfriends! Strange. Isn’t it?
3. Such mottos are not just said in Iran and as you know whatever you hear is a response to the U.S govt’s terrible actions which has made life for many people hell (You wouldn’t deny that attacking countries is a mistake. Would you?)
4. U.S. companies assistance in developing Iraq’s chemical weapons facilities during the Iran-Iraq war which killed over a million Iranians
5. USS Vincennes shooting down Iran Air Flight 655 with many civilian fatalities
6.U.S. Support for anti-Iranian terrorist organisations (i.e. the MKO);
7. Economic damage caused by U.S. sanctions and political pressure; U.S. UAV overflights over Iran violating Iranian airspace since 2003.
When you call Ahmadinejad a nutcase for what he’s said, what do you call Bush for his war crimes?
To those who are upset with American hostages taken for 444 days:
1. Firstly, It’s related to so many years ago and it’s almost a part of history, and don’t forget that when there’s a revolution, there’d be chaos and people may do things that they should not, moreover they’re all alive and healthy. Aren’t they?
2.The U.S has arrested Iranian diplomats in Iraq and had tortured the one who was freed. Now you decide who has the right to be upset with whom. How do you believe in their lies about politics when they hide both the most and the least important things from you considering the fact that politics is the world of lies in its nature?!!!
If you like to insist on your theory of attacking Israel, I’ll tell you our logical theory: “The moment that Iran attacks Israel, Iran will be wiped off the face of the earth by the U.S and its allies and Iran is far more logical than doing such a stupid thing” So, forget about it.I’m quite sure you know that all the events and lies in the world are a part of a pre-planned scenario by major world-powers (Iran as an important country has always been a part of their plans)And the first step is to brainwash people. They excactly know what will happen even 50 years later! I think Iraq is such a good example.Attacking it with the excuse of removing Saddam while they’d put Saddam there themselves and had supported him for years! They said they had W.M.Ds and you believed them. Now they say Iran (a member of N.P.T) has nukes / is developing nukes and you believe them wilhe the nuclear agency hasn’t found any sign of illegal activities.Time to wake up!
Isn’t it better for both countries to forget past conflicts and to have peaceful relations? Our two gov’ts are like 10 year old children playing a stupid, harsh, rhetorical game. They don’t care about hurting people’s feelings. They just try to make our two peoples enemies to achieve their own goals. We, as the people of these countries, MUST NOT allow these conflics into our hearts. Now, what do you think? I can’t wait to see both nations in peace. It’d be marvelous!
Did you find my article informative? : )
Thanks for your time
To the first answerer: I don’t believe your being American. You must be from Israel. If not, you’re an American Jew.Or you’re one of the rare examples of extremists.
Oh my God! Have they censored the news agian? He exactly said: “Iran’s ready to defent itself and IF ATTACKED, it will endanger all American interests in the Mid-East”. Isn’t that fair? Notice how he said “IF ATTACKED” and what he meant by American interests? O-I-L.It means the oil cut off which will cause the world to go through a difficult time.60% of all the oil needed in the world has to pass through the Iranian waters.I think I cleared another misunderstanding.Besides, if throwing a leader is so easy as you say why 100′000 Iranians were killed to overthrow the Shah and why Americans don’t throw Bush? You see, it’s easy to talk, but when it comes to action, it requires a
paranormal force!
To the third answerer: 100% True.
To skooz: The thing is that Iran doesn’t think of the groups you mention as terrorists just like many other countries.Terrorists are: 1.Taliban 2.al Qaeda which Iran is against both.
I’ll let you in on a little secret: “Both your media and government are under the influence of Jews” That’s why you support Israel and its war crimes and its having illegally 200 nuclear warheads and you call anyone defending themselves agaisnt it a terrorist (i.e Hamas, Palestineans, Hezbollah).I wish you could see how they kill little childeren.Do your media ever tell you about it? It’s interesting that from our point of view Israel is the occupier. So the word “terrorist” is a matter of opinion here.
and here’s your evidence for the Iranioan diplomat being tortured: http://www2.irna.com/en/news/view/menu-234/0704118379143037.htm
You probably don’t believe in C.I.A’s secret prisons.Guantanamo and the way Iraqi people were abused in Iraq by soldiers (remember their nude pictures?) are fine examples.
To skooz: I don’t care about Israel and I’m pro-American.You made a good point.Take Iran into account too.Surrounded by Turkey and Arabs who hate it out of jealousy and being threatened to be nuked by the U.S and Israel and more likely by some British countries. So doesn’t Iran have the right to arm itself? Are you fair in your judgment? Besides, Israel has OCCUPIED a piece of land and is killing its real owners.Remember? It attacked Lebonon just because Hezbollah had taken hostage two of its soldiers to free 1000 Palestinians and Lebanese people tortured in Israeli prisons. It’s got no right to do so and supporting Israel is equal with supporting the murder of defensless innocent people.Israel were right only if it were its own land not a stolen piece of land from dissent people.Besides, if America wants peace in the Mid-East (a big lie) why doesn’t it take its beloved Israelies to the U.S?
A: Americans have been brainwashed for years, they have been sold the belief they are better than God.
They don’t realize how well their news is edited (returning bodies is one subtle one, which they tried to copy in Canada until freedom raised its voice)

Q: Can you pleases help me summarize this ( 10 pts)?
Odetta was more than just a singer. She used her classically trained voice and some guitar playing to channel the colorful and sometimes deeply sad stories that make up American folk music. Odetta influenced generations of musicians and became an icon in the civil rights struggle. She died on December 2, 2008, after battling heart disease. She was 77 years old.
Odetta’s voice sang for many. The highly praised folk singer gave life to the songs of working people and slaves, farmers and miners, housewives and washerwomen, African Americans and whites. She didn’t just sing the notes in the songs. Odetta “became” the people in the songs and performed as though she felt what they felt.
“What distinguished [Odetta] from the start was the … care with which she tried to re-create the feeling of her folk songs [when she performed],” Time magazine wrote in 1960.
Odetta’s life began in Birmingham, Alabama, in 1930. She moved with her family to Los Angeles, California, when she was 6 years old. Odetta started studying music when she was 13 and later studied opera singing at Los Angeles City College, where she became interested in folk music. She came to prominence in the folk music world in the 1950s.
Odetta had not lived the lives of the people in her songs, but she was interested in their stories.
“I’m not a real folk singer,” Odetta told The Washington Post in 1983. “I don’t mind people calling me that, but I’m a musical historian. I’m a city kid who has admired an area and who got into it. I’ve been fortunate. With folk music, I can do my teaching and preaching … . ”
Odetta used music to preach messages of hope, justice, and humanity during the civil rights movement in the 1960s. She encouraged African Americans to take pride in themselves. In August 1963, she sang a song called “I’m on My Way” at the historic March on Washington, the civil rights demonstration where Martin Luther King, Jr. gave his famous “I Have a Dream” speech.
During this time, folk music was experiencing a boom. Singers like Harry Belafonte, Joan Baez, and Bob Dylan began performing and recording songs in which they expressed their views on civil rights and other issues of the day. They and many other folk superstars were influenced by Odetta.
“The first thing that [got me into] folk singing was Odetta,” Dylan said in 1978.
Odetta released album after album of songs. She was considered for Grammys in the 1960s and as recently as 2005. In 1999, she was honored with a National Medal of the Arts. President Bill Clinton said her career showed “us all that songs have the power to change the heart and change the world.”
In spite of her failing health, Odetta performed 60 concerts in the last two years. Her singing ability never diminished. Neither did her enthusiasm for singing. In 1983, she said that for her, music was still a way to express hope and grief.
“There’s always something to sing about,” Odetta said.

Q: Please proof read my work?
The inventions of last couple centuries have saved many lives and changed the way people live, worldwide. The Canadian community has contributed a great number of medical inventions which continue to save lives. Some may question whether Canada done enough to show its involvement as a global population. Mankind has achieved success in various pursuits and has made many advancements in every field. The Canadian society of the last century has also followed the same path by discovering many new medical achievements such as insulin, pacemaker and high tech blood analysis.
One of the most famous and well acknowledged Canadian inventions would have to be medical a discovery for Diabetes. Diabetes is also known as the sugar disease. Diabetes can cause high levels of sugar build up in your blood; this can lead to severe health aggravation. In the 1920s doctors started working on temporary cures like insulin to help diabetic patients live longer. Insulin was withdrawn from the pancreases of animals and given to people with diabetes but course it was first distilled. Insulin can be injected in the following parts of the body such as the abdomen, upper arms, thighs, hips and calves. The thoughts of creating insulin started when Dr.Bantings’ friend passed away. Some might think that insulin is a cure to diabetes but it’s only a discovery which balances sugar levels in a diabetic person. People suffering from diabetes cannot appropriately digest and regulate sugars. Insulin extract was first used on dogs to prove that it had some kind of effect and ones this was proven further research had begun to purify the extract for human use. Leonard a 14 year old boy dying of the “sugar diseases” at the time he only weighted 30 kilograms. Banting’s team then tested the first dose of insulin on him and he was first patient to ever get the injection. The boy appeared healthy afterwards but the question was how could they produce enough insulin and how could a consistent strength of insulin be assured. After countless research and hard work Banting’s team produced a world standard for insulin. Science and technology has made high quality and long lasting insulin. Patients will often inject doses of insulin prescribed by their doctors to keep their sugar levels neutralized. Modern science continues to find better cures to erase such diseases.
The heart is a very important organ in the human body without it you just can’t survive. This muscular organ manages the flow through your blood vessels. For Example suppose that your heart beats to quick or to slow, this will lead to inefficient blood flow to your important organs, like your brain. The invention of the pacemaker solves this dilemma. A few people will come across this situation where their heart will beat in an unusual rhythm. Fortunately the pacemaker can resolve this problem by sending micro electrical jolts to the heart. This will enable the heart to process at an average speed and continues to do it, daily. The pace maker was first noticed by an electrical engineer, Dr. John Hopps. He noticed that a certain electrical jolt could make a heart beat while he was helping revive animals from the extreme cold. By the 1950s, the first external pacemaker was invented. Many academicians realized the potential of the external pacemaker and they started working on a size that would fit inside the human body. Yes, once again the Canadian society has succeeded and this small device saves many lives worldwide.
This high tech device is not well recognized but it’s used in many places. The high tech device is shortly known as I Stat. It’s commonly used in hospitals, international Space Station and paramedics in ambulances use it often as well. It’s arising in the Canadian market started in the 1992, after many years of hard work. For the first time in history a hand held apparatus could easy deliver twelve common blood tests. Its results are as accurate as a laboratory test but with lot less time required. The science behind the machine is very complicated but for the general public using the product is not. The way this extraordinary mechanizes works is by analyzing the drops of blood, that are laid on it and the end results are displayed on a digital screen. “Saving time in blood analysis can mean saving lives”
Many years have passed and the world has progressed in technology. The late century Canadian medical associations have impacted a great amount of research being done today. Inventions such as the pacemaker, insulin and I stat are still being greatly improved by the doctors worldwide. Just imagine what it would have been like for the people that fight these terrible diseases, if these great Canadians weren’t born they would still be in horrendous pain or maybe just died. That’s why the advancement in technology is always helpful, as long as there not used in a negative altitude. The people that continue to dedicate their time towards medical r
medical research will make an enormous difference in the next generation to come.
A: sorry but the first paragraph made me want to go to sleep. In the 1st paragraph there is 1 mistake that i have seen: “Some may question whether Canada done enough to show its involvement as a global population.”
it needs to be “…have done enough to show…..”
Q: Can anyone help me write a conclusion on my philosophy on life, loss and death paper?
In the past seventeen years of my life, I have listened to a lot of songs, had a lot of different experiences and have read a lot of quotes. It seems that this day in age everything is brought out in lyrics, experiences, or quotes. Looking back at my whole life I can pick out a handful of songs, experiences, and quotes which have together, brought together my philosophy on life, loss and death. Sure everyone knows that famous line that Tom Hanks speaks in the movie Forrest Gump; “Life is like a box of chocolates, you never know what you’re gonna get.” But not everyone believes that. Everyone has their own philosophy on life, loss and death.
Life speaks to me in a quote that I have seen repeatedly over the past five years, “You were only given this life because you were strong enough to live it.” The meaning behind this quote is the basis to my philosophy on life. I believe that there are unborn children in heaven and that maybe one day they will be sent to earth to become a human, but I also believe that there are those children up in heaven that cannot come down to earth because they are not strong enough to handle life. Whether it is that they have a sickness, or a mental disability, for some reason they cannot live as a human on this earth. For the children that die before they are born, or even die in their young age, I believe that God may have thought they were strong enough to live on this earth, but for some reason the earth decided that they were not strong enough to live on it.
The lyrics In My Life, by The Beatles have a look on life unlike any other lyrics I have ever known. “There are places I’ll remember all my life though some have changed. Some forever not for better, some have gone and some remain. All these places have their moments with lovers and friends. I still can recall some are dead and some are living, in my life I’ve loved them all.” I think that these lyrics say that you shouldn’t regret anything in your life and that you should live and love freely throughout your whole life. The Beatles speak to me specifically when they say “in my life I’ve loved them all.” Just these seven words, say so much about life. They are talking about both the places and the people that they have loved in their lives. By reading these lyrics I believe that we are supposed to love everyone and everything because that is what life is all about.
When I think of the meaning of loss only one quote comes to mind. “Tis better to have loved and lost than never to have loved at all.” This quote focuses on how love is an essential and important part of life and should not be avoided on the basis of fear of rejection or loss. Some people go through life and never fall in love. I think that it is better to have loved someone and felt how wonderful it is to be in love even if, at its conclusion, you end up with the pain of loss. Loss is just one more experience and helps you develop character.
January 8, 2004 I lost one of my grandfathers to heart and lung disease. Being that I was fourteen and in eighth grade, I understood what had happened and why. I had lost another grandfather a couple years before, but this one hit me harder probably because I saw him and talked to him more often. The feeling that overcame me was horrifying in the fact that I had just lost someone very close to me, but I realized that this was a turning point in my life because I now understood loss in a different way then I had before. I learned that loss is not the worst thing that can happen in life and that every loss should be a learning experience.
Death is something that usually no one wants to talk or think about. Although I don’t really like to talk or think about death either, when I do, the following quote comes to mind; “Life is our path, Death is our destiny.” I still feel the same way about death from the first time I heard this quote. This quote helped me figure out my philosophy on death because to me, it is saying that life is a path whose destination is known and that destination is death. Whether we die today or tomorrow it is certain that we will all die. Life is the way to death.
Ms. Sellers is another experience added to my philosophy on death because right now she is staring death in the face. From the day that I walked into her classroom sophomore year she made it a point to remind us everyday that she had cancer and that she was living when her doctors told her she should be dying. I can remember last year when she told our whole junior Church History class that she wouldn’t be here to see us graduate. We told her she shouldn’t think like that because after all she was living when she was supposed to be dying, but she told us that she knew it was going to be her time soon. Now it’s February a year later and she was right, she is dying and probably won’t be able to see us graduate. When I went to visit her two weeks ago with some friends she told us that it was her time to go, it was the end of her journey on earth. Ms. Sellers lived her life to the fullest, she lost and now she is dying. She knew all along that this was her destiny.

NAMELY: “The Conclusion of the Matter IS; (FEAR) the TRUE God & KEEP His COMMANDMENTS” ! ! !
Q: Am I the first man in the world who’s decided to introduce the “real” Iran to the world? Am I a pioneer?

Enough evidence?
Some people think Iran is a desert! Well, it is, if you consider California a desert. We share the same latitude.

Here I found this from your so-called “trusted” nbc news website.A slide show trying to show the western culture in Iran, but I couldn’t figure out what some of those pictures showing Iran’s nuclear facilities or its president have got to do with the “western culture” lol Here you go: http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/11645589/displaymode/1107/s/2/framenumber/4/
6.U.S. Support for anti-Iranian terrorist organisations (i.e. the MKO);
Thanks for your time
A: Wow! I couldn’t have said it better myself. Very informative. But you know that people are people, and some must undermine others in order to justify their own agenda and prejudices. If they can’t find facts, they will simply make them up. But you know what ? Their lies and miss-statements always catch up to them eventually. But then they start to make up more, so it is a vicious cycle.
Just forgive them for their ignorance, do the best you can in life and keep in mind that at least you (and many other educated people) know better.
Q: I have written something that I’m not finished with and I want opinions.Title is How The World Keeps Spinning?
Have you ever wondered how you were going to die? Maybe a car accident, or a stroke. In most sad novels you always find a page that says, “Life is too fast to waste time regretting the past.” Or something like that. Even though upsetting facts are the truth, why dread the next day. Live your life at the fullest. That doesn’t mean do dangerous things, but not to pass up opportunities to have fun.
I am only fifteen years old and I have written all of that. I know it sounds crazy, but doesn’t it sort of make sense?
Today I was watching my dog, Tripp, play with one of his favorite toys. He was rolling on his back, holding the toy with his two front paws. Tripp was biting it like there was no tomorrow, which maybe there wouldn’t be. Anyway Tripp has cataracts, which makes it very hard for him to see. Watching a blind dog have so much fun is heart lifting. It sort of sends a message saying maybe there is hope for the world.
~1~
It shows mankind that no matter what struggles we are going, through make the best of it.
The world has so many issues on so many levels. First the U.S. politics are down the drain. Global warming will most likely kill us in one thousand years. There are homeless people and people getting abused. In this case, any families who have both parents in a job and can control bills are very lucky. And the people who are trying to make a difference, are getting doubted.
With all of these issues, my mom keeps telling me to keep my grades up and try to get a full scholarship for college. Then she says to get famous and be rich. She also says to use the money to help the world be a better place. I tell her I doubt I can do that, but she says, “ Angela, I believe you can do it. Yeah it will take a while, but don’t stop trying. I know you and your sister, Gina, can do it. And if you can’t, I still we be proud of you two no matter what happens.
~2~
Both adults and children try to fit into groups that don’t fit their personalities. What I am trying to say is we try to fit in with people who are nothing like us. This makes us change our thoughts and actions, which is sometimes good, but mostly bad. If before we met these people we thought that people can thing whatever they want of you, but it doesn’t matter. Then after you made friends with these people, all you worry about is your appearance.
In most of our lives we go through a depression time. By this I mean a very sad time, not having a disease. For me it was my parents’ divorce. My best friend, Jessica, has her parents divorced. When I was little, I had a dream of me thinking my parents would never split up. That’s why I took it so hard. But a month later, or maybe two weeks later, I got over the event.
~3~
A: What is the point? Other than the fact that the world keeps spinning. This idea has been done(to death) by people with infinitely better writing skills, unless you find a new angle and improve your grammar no one is going to care.
Q: Does this explain all the vague points and secrets about Iran to you?
I believe that if you spend 10 minutes reading this essay, you will be better informed than if you listen to a lifetime’s worth of Major Media news. This article has two parts:
1. Cultural and general info
2. Political info.
Note: I’ve explained everything.Any answers before reading the whole thing will prove to be wrong.Specially the political part.I’ve provided evidence for whatever I say. It’s just the way it is.
****

Enough evidence?
Some people think Iran is a desert! Well, it is, if you consider California a desert. We share the same latitude.
And that they misuse this event to justify their atrocities towards Palestinian people.Do they ever show you how they get into houses and open fire on innocent children, women and oldmen? Do they? It’s funny that they’re portrayed as the good guys while anyone trying to stand up against them (For example Palestinians whose land is OCCUPIED by Israel) are labled terrorist / insurgent /etc etc.Did you know the reason for that? Because many American politicians are Israeli Jews and that’s why your media is pro-Israeli and anti-Moslem and that’s why they never tell you the truth and portray a distorted picture of anything Islamic. Now I think you’d get the point why he’s IRONICALLY said it’s a myth. Moreover, don’t you believe in freedom of speech/mind? Also, I see some people using the two terms “Jihad” and “Infidel” to insult Islam.I’ll tell you what they mean:
Jihad: An Arabic word meaning “effort”.It means defending your country when it’s attacked by the enemy or serving your country in any way (i.e by teaching, curing, helping others etc etc)
Infidel: An old fashioned Arabic word which reffers to the tribe of Qureysh which lived 1400 years ago and fought prophet Mohammad. It doesn’t mean non-Moslem, athiest etc etc.(I checked the English dictionary and it gives totally wrong definitions for both terms)
6.U.S. Support for anti-Iranian terrorist organisations (i.e. the MKO);
Thanks for your time
Look Brayn I know what you say, but this is being prejudice.Assuming that Iran is after nukes (It’s not) it’s not illegal. As you see Israel posesses 200 nuclear warheads illegally. If you explain it on this logic that it needs them to defend itself, then Iran too needs something to prevent others from attacking it and as you see many countries are after attacking it and that’s all because of taking the control of it’s enery resources. In one word: All these wars are because of oil.Fighting against terrorism and stuff are exuses to justify their actions.
to pointless: Read the plitical part.Obviouse;y you all answer this question without reading it, so your answers are prejudice.Besides Iran has co-operated I.A.E.A too much. The U.S and some British countries don’t get satisfied and talk nonsense, so Iran would retaliate it by lessening its co-operation.Also, if you’ve read the news recently, Iran allows their agents to come and visit its facilities and I.A.E.A’s cameras are all over the place.Isn’t that called making confidence?
A: Your name is all I had to read to see what you were saying. Look if those Nuclear Facilities are peaceful then why would you put them in bunkers? Oh because they aren’t peaceful, look Iran’s leader has sinister thoughts. The people are just fine, the government is corrupt.
Q: Am I the first man in the world who has……?
who has decided to introduce the “real” Iran to the world?

Enough evidence?
Some people think Iran is a desert! Well, it is, if you consider California a desert. We share the same latitude. Iran is a modern country with breathtakingly beautiful nature and lots of historic places to visit. Please take a look at the following links to see if Iran looks like what you think or not!

Thanks for your time
To stephen: Yes, I totally agree with you.I’ll tell you what.Believe me not him.We here think of him as a moron, but hey we’re gonna choose a new pres in 2009! I’ll vote for the former one. He’s proved to be the right man.Just one thing: plz never think politics and the reality are the same because they often contradict.
A: Then perhaps you could explain why your president is being so openly provocative?
he has made inflammatory statements that fit in with the Western Notion that Iran is merely a hotbed of radical extremists who, if given half a chance, would blow you up.
The real problem lies in a conflict of images. You can say one thing, yet your president says another. Who am I to believe?
